Apply NowOn the Mathematical Modelling degree at Aberystwyth University you will learn how to use mathematical theory to develop predictive models in the physical and life sciences and in engineering. You will gain expertise in mathematical analysis and statistical modelling to evaluate hypotheses and analyse real-world problems. At the same time, you will receive a firm grounding in the techniques of collection, classification, organisation, analysis and interpretation of data. Mathematicians and statisticians are highly valued by employers across many job sectors for their logical and analytical thought processes, problem-solving abilities, computing expertise, and decision-making skills.
The first two years of the Mathematical Modelling course will give you a broad introduction to important areas of mathematics, including algebra, calculus, geometry, statistics and mathematical analysis. You will be able to specialise in your final year and take advantage of our expertise by choosing from a wide range of optional modules based on your own interests.
In studying Mathematical Modelling you will develop clear analytical thought processes, problem-solving abilities and the capacity for logical argument.
