Computer Science

The Department of Computer Science at Aberystwyth University is a leading computing department in Wales and one of the major UK departments for research and for teaching.

We are a research-driven computer science department, with research groups in Intelligent Robotics; Vision, Graphics and Visualisation; Advanced Reasoning; and Bioinformatics and Health Informatics. All research groups investigate and develop techniques and applications of intelligent systems where we actively encourage close inter-group working, giving a high degree of coherence to our research.

An MPhil degree in Computer Science is an opportunity to explore an area of research, supported by supervisors from our specialist research groups. There are about 20 students pursuing postgraduate research programmes in the Department at present, working alongside lecturers and research associates in a lively and well-integrated research community.

Grants from Research Councils and other sources may be available through the Department.
