Overview

The Healthcare Education Centre have secured additional platforms and applications that will assist you as trainee healthcare practitioners with the progression of your studies.

The following platforms are used as part of the delivery of your courses and will enhance your learning experience. They enable you to reinforce the practical application of the theory learnt, reflect and provide feedback to you on your progress and learning outcomes. Your engagement with these various platforms is therefore a mandatory part of your course:

This data protection notice explains how your personal data, captured through these platforms, is used.

What type of personal data do we collect via these platforms?

We currently collect and process the following information:

  • Your Aberystwyth University log-in;
  • Times and dates that you have interacted with the service/platform;
  • How you have interacted with the service/ platform;
  • Progress data;
  • Audio and visual recording of your interactions and responses

How do we get your personal data and why we use it?

Your personal data is obtained through your use of the learning platforms.

Faculty academics and administrators have access to the platform usage data for assessment purposes. The data will then be anonymised for analysis and reporting purposes.

Legal bases

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the legal bases for processing your personal data is for the performance of your contract with the University as a student (Article 6(1)(b)) and task in the public interest (Article 6(1)(e)).

Who will have access to your personal data?

Only members of staff who need access to relevant parts or all of your information will have authorised access. Any information communicated to HEIW will be anonymised and for statistical analysis only, no personal information is shared.

How long do we keep your data for?

Your data will be kept for one year after the end of your time as a registered student.

What are your rights?

Under data protection law, you have rights available to you, depending on our reason for processing your information.

Where we process your personal data on the basis of contractual obligations, you have the right: to access your personal information, to rectify, to restrict processing, to erasure and to the portability of your personal information.

Where we process your personal data on the basis of task in the public interest, you have the right: to access your personal information, to rectify, to object and to restrict the processing of your personal information.
