PhD/ MPhil International Politics and Relations

Founded in 1919, the Department of International Politics is the oldest department of its kind in the world. We have an international reputation for our research, known wherever the subject is studied. The excellence of the Department’s research was recognised in the most recent UK-wide Research Assessment Exercise, when we were given the top grade of 5*A. Similarly, the quality of the Department’s teaching was assessed by the Higher Education Funding Council and judged to be in the highest possible category, being awarded an ‘excellent’ rating.

The Department has recently moved into a purpose-built state of the art new building which provides first class facilities for staff and students alike and reflects the Department’s global reputation.
